Import duties and restrictions

Why this page exists

We do not hold stock in a warehouse of our own. Orders are shipped by our supply partners and some parcels are sent from outside the country you are ordering from. When a parcel crosses a border it can attract a charge before it is released. We would rather you knew that before you paid than after.

Import duty, VAT and handling fees

Your customs authority, not us, decides whether a charge applies and how much it is. Typically it can include:

• import duty, based on what the goods are and where they were made
• import VAT or the local sales tax equivalent
• a handling or clearance fee charged by the carrier for dealing with customs on your behalf

These charges are payable by you and are not included in the price you paid us. We cannot tell you in advance what they will be, because they depend on your country’s rules and thresholds.

If you refuse a parcel because of an import charge, it is usually returned to sender or destroyed. Where it comes back to us we will refund the goods, but not the original delivery charge or any cost the carrier passes on.

Orders delivered inside the UK

UK customers pay the price shown, including UK VAT where it applies, and nothing else on delivery — unless that particular parcel is sent from abroad, in which case the paragraph above can apply. If your order is affected we will say so in the dispatch email.

Destinations we cannot ship to

We deliver to most countries. A small number are excluded because our supply partners cannot ship to them reliably, or because doing so would breach trade sanctions or export control rules that apply to us. If your destination is one of them, the checkout will say so before you pay and no order will be taken.

We cannot deliver to a PO box, a poste restante address, a freight forwarder, or a military or diplomatic mail address.

Restrictions on what we sell

• We sell adult womenswear and costume accessories. Nothing on this site is a children’s product, and none of it is intended for use by a child.
• Our textiles are labelled for fibre content under the Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Names) Regulations 2012. The content shown on each product page is the content on the label.
• Jewellery, chains, clasps and buttons are plated alloy and glass. We make no claim about their metal content, because we have not had it tested, and we do not describe any of it as precious metal or as a natural pearl.
• We do not sell anything that requires an export licence, and nothing on this site is restricted by age beyond the general requirement that the buyer is 18 or over.

Your own rules

You are responsible for making sure that what you order may lawfully be imported into your country. If a parcel is seized by customs for a reason of that kind we cannot refund it.
