Size guide

UK sizing for tweed jackets, mini skirts and sets, how to measure yourself, and what to do if you are between sizes.

How our sizes run

Everything on this site that comes in a size comes in UK 6 to UK 18. The size on the label is the size we cut to, using the body measurements below. It is not a vanity size and it is not a US or EU size relabelled.

UK size Bust Waist Hip
UK 6 80 cm 62 cm 87 cm
UK 8 84 cm 66 cm 91 cm
UK 10 88 cm 70 cm 95 cm
UK 12 93 cm 75 cm 100 cm
UK 14 98 cm 80 cm 105 cm
UK 16 103 cm 86 cm 111 cm
UK 18 109 cm 92 cm 117 cm

These are body measurements, not garment measurements. The finished piece is cut with ease on top of them.

How to measure

  • Bust — around the fullest part, tape level all the way round, arms down.
  • Waist — the narrowest part of your middle, usually just above the navel.
  • Hip — around the fullest part, usually about 20 cm below the waist.

Measure over underwear, not over a jumper, and keep the tape snug but not tight.

Between two sizes

Take the larger one. Tweed has no stretch, and a cropped jacket that is tight across the back reads as a size too small rather than as a close fit.

How each shape fits

  • Cropped jackets — boxy through the body, finishing at or just above the hip bone. Sleeves are a full length unless the description says three-quarter.
  • Mini skirts — sit at the natural waist and finish above the knee. A-line and box-pleat shapes give more room through the hip than the straight cuts.
  • Sets — the jacket and skirt are cut to the same size and sold together. If you need different sizes top and bottom, buy the two pieces separately where we list them on their own.

Tolerance

Our cloth is cut in small runs, so a finished measurement can vary by up to 2 cm between two pieces of the same size. That is normal for a woven garment and is not a fault.

Bags and jewellery

Bags list their height, width and depth in centimetres, and the drop of the chain, on the product page. Necklaces list their length and the length of any extender; bracelets and earrings list their dimensions the same way.
